Visual poetry in Petrichor: A Journal of Text+Image

“Blood Moon Woman” is a reimagining of Chang’e, a goddess of the moon in Chinese folklore. Both a visual and textual collage, I brought together elements of vintage lunar diagrams as well as lines from Li Bai’s “Quiet Night Thought” translated by astrophysicist Charles Liu, into a visual poem that frames mythical femininity in today’s context as a bold force for unity, resistance, and change.
