At this exhibition, I’ll be premiering a new visual poem titled “The Dark Side of the Moon,” an homage to women’s labor mapped to the dark side of the moon, inspired by Chinese-American physicist Chien-Shiung Wu. Wu’s, whose genius laboratory experiments overturned a long-held principle of conservation parity in beta decay, and helped to deliver the Nobel Prize to her two male colleagues Tung Dao Lee and Chen Ning Yang in 1957. Wu, however, was not included in the honors. The poem meditates on the legibility of women’s labor, with the text hot stamped in silver foil over a blind embossed surface of the moon. The exhibition is on display April 21 – June 30, 2022.
